
Stop Your Bathroom Heaters From Dying Early
Bathrooms are a nightmare for electronics. You’ve got steam everywhere and intense, localized heat hitting your walls. If you’ve ever had an infrared heater just… stop working, it’s usually because of one specific spot: where the lead wire hooks into the heating element. Most generic heaters treat the seal as an afterthought. They throw some cheap glue on it and call it a day. Then, the moisture gets in, things start to oxidize, and boom—you’ve got a short circuit. Here is what’s actually happening. Every time you flip that switch, the junction hits peak temperature almost instantly. Cheap adhesives can’t handle that. They bake, they get brittle, and they crack. Once there’s a tiny gap, the shower steam crawls inside and starts eating away at the insulation. It’s a slow burn. Eventually, the insulation vanishes, the wires touch, and the whole thing fries. The difference is in the seal. A lot of factories just dip the wires in basic silicone. It looks fine on the shelf, but it doesn’t last. We do things differently. We use a multi-stage vacuum sealing process with high-temp epoxy and ceramic potting. It sounds technical, but all it means is that we’ve created a seal that doesn’t shrink or crack when things get hot. It’s a balancing act. Quartz glass and copper wire expand at different rates when they heat up. If the seal is too stiff, it snaps. Too soft, and it leaks. We’ve spent the time dialing in the elasticity so it moves with the heater, not against it. One quick tip for installation. Because this seal is so robust, the wire exit is a bit more rigid than the cheap stuff. Don’t bend those wires sharply. If you kink the wire too close to the seal, you’re putting a ton of stress on that internal bond. Give yourself a bend radius of at least 25mm. Keep it gentle, and your heater will actually last in a high-moisture bathroom instead of burning out in a few months.
